We're seeking an energetic and visionary senior executive who can lead our efforts to continue evolving our media offerings and increase our media role with our blue chip client brands. Building on a long-running base of success, we are looking to drive continuous innovation in the space and in the industry through the development of best-in-class planning practices across both digital and non-digital media. This person will creatively leverage available data in collaboration with our Targeting and Analytics team.

The ideal candidate would have 15+ years of experience in media strategy and building out media offerings for agencies – a considerable challenge, obviously, in today’s rapidly transforming media space.

Success will be measured based on this executive’s ability to grow:
- the capabilities of the team, and…
- the revenue contributions of the planning and buying discipline

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish near- and long-term visions for the planning and buying offering that steadily elevates our effectiveness and Client value, and continues to differentiate our offering in a fast-evolving media space
  • Inspire and grow the current planning and buying teams to deliver at industry-leading levels of performance
  • Work with other Agency leaders to build powerful linkages between the broader media team and: client leadership, analytics, activation, Client brand leaders, partner media agencies, and senior Client executives
  • Establish valuable strategic partnerships with media, media research, data, and tech vendors to fuel the building of the Agency’s innovative, industry-leading offering
  • Help establish performance benchmarks and a suite of tools to improve planning and buying effectiveness
  • Serve as the media thought leadership presence for the Agency internally, with senior level Clients, and with the industry at large
  • Proactively seek out net new media engagements both inside and outside of The Mars Agency Client portfolio, ultimately continuing the year-over-year revenue growth of the practice

SKILLSETS REQUIRED:

  • Senior leadership experience with national-tier media departments/agencies
  • Direct Client/industry experience in CPG and/or retail
  • Proficiency in digital media, including with DSPs, the building out of DMPs, and the negotiating of partnership and private exchange relationships
  • Balanced knowledge in non-digital media (such as in-store, experiential, and print)
  • Established media, data, and tech vendor relationships that can be leveraged
  • Proven effectiveness leading and managing 20+ person teams
  • Financial management of the team resources, burn rates, costs, and revenue contributions
  • Innovative perspective on the agency and media industries, and the opportunities emerging for the Agency and its Clients
  • A disciplined analytics approach to delivering and proving media value (including attribution and media mix management) in the context of the Clients’ businesses
  • An energetic, persuasive presence in person and in writing, balanced with well-developed listening and inter-personal skills
  • The ability to tell insightful, resonant stories with data to audiences at varying levels of sophistication
