Head of Marketing - LA
We are currently looking for an experienced Director - to - VP of Marketing to join our team. The position will focus primarily on trade marketing and brand development to the advertising and entertainment industries. We are looking for a candidate to work closely with our executive staff to create and implement comprehensive policies and programs related to corporate marketing, communications, and brand development.
This role could technically range from Director to VP; the reason for the range is that we want hands-on talent. Even if you are a VP you still need to, for example, iterate on storytelling. While comp and title range depending on experience, and we expect Director-level candidates to need more handholding from the rest of senior management, you will be expected to “get things done” in an environment that is still somewhat scrappy and startup-like.

What is expected of you?
Design and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to create awareness of the company’s business activities
Oversee PR (we have an in-house publicist and an outside firm) - coordinate all media contacts and ensure that the company consistently gets media coverage specifically focused on the advertising, marketing, and entertainment trade industries, and help steer more consumer coverage
Develop a measuring system for determining the success of each marketing program
Produce ideas for promotional events or activities and organize/execute them efficiently Plan and execute campaigns for corporate promotion, launching of new product lines etc.
Responsible for producing valuable content for the company’s online presence, corporate collateral, and occasionally sales collateral
Conduct general market research to keep abreast of trends and competitor’s marketing movements
Ability to initiate and monitor several simultaneous projects
Control budgets and allocate resources amongst projects
Become the organization’s agent towards external parties such as media, stakeholders, and potential clients and build strategic partnerships
Ability to be very hands-on when the situation calls for it; we are a company of doers
Who will do great in this role?
We want you to be successful, as we know that developing a solid pipeline and closing deals are what drives you. With that said, we believe you’ll be successful if you have:
2-5+ years of current marketing and marketing management experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in digital media or publishing
Demonstrated track record of building brand awareness
Excellent Copywriting and Powerpoint experience preferred
A passion for, and experience with, brand storytelling.
Experience with managing outside public relations agency and ad sales teams preferred
Data-driven approach to marketing preferred
Up to speed with current and online marketing techniques and best practices specifically Facebook, Linkedin, Branded Content and Native advertising
Passionate about online media and pop culture in general
Love working in fast-moving, high-growth companies in an industry that is rapidly changing
Creative problem solver and effective communicator. Able to make actionable and informed decisions
BSc/BA in business administration, marketing, journalism, communications or relevant field
