Job summary: Adweek, the marketing industry's leading publication, is seeking a highly motivated and organized photo editor to work at the company’s growing newsroom in New York.
The photo editor will join a Folio award-winning Visual Newsroom, which combines a team of highly talented video producers and web artists. The photo editor is afforded the opportunity to work with some of the industry’s top photographers, but also celebrities like Serena Williams, Samantha Bee, Issa Rae, Kevin Hart, Ava DuVernay and Jimmy Kimmel.
The photo editor can leave his or her mark on the Adweek magazine, helping shape the design of the cover, features and departments. The photo editor will also create engaging, highly visual web layouts to tell Adweek’s most important stories.
Adweek’s coverage reaches an engaged audience of more than 6 million professionals who are interested in advertising, branding, tech, TV, media and creativity.
Primary responsibilities include:
Assigning shoots, editing photos, scouting locations and researching stock photos
Integration between print, web and social platforms
Design of departments and features for print with InDesign
Create and manage budgets/invoicing
Collaborate with design and editorial staff
Candidates must have strong multitasking, organizational and communication skills.
Excellent relationships with photographers and industry contacts.
Minimum five years of photo editing experience at a magazine.
Comprehensive knowledge of stock photography agencies and portrait photographers.
Experience with online content management systems.
Working knowledge of photography a plus.
Knowledge of the following required:
Photoshop • InDesign • After Effects • Excel spreadsheets •
Online content management systems [such as WordPress]
