Job summary: Adweek, the marketing industry's leading publication, is seeking a social media editor at the company’s headquarters in New York to develop and execute its social media strategy.
Applicants should live 140 characters at a time, have a great instinct for news and love social storytelling. We’re looking for someone who has managed Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram accounts for a major media organization and isn’t afraid to dig into the analytics to see what’s working and what’s not. Social media, and especially Facebook, is changing and we want to evolve with it.
Adweek’s social editor is part strategist, part artist—maintaining our social media feeds, developing our social strategy and creating multimedia assets to better promote our work. The ideal candidate isn’t afraid to jump in front of a camera to host Adweek original videos or contribute to our weekly podcast, Yeah, That’s Probably an Ad.

Share Adweek.com content and maintain Adweek’s editorial voice across social platforms
Develop Adweek’s social media strategy and tweak it as the platforms change and new ones emerge
Train members of the newsroom in social media best practices
Create multimedia assets—videos, images and GIFs—to help promote Adweek’s stories on social media
Analyze social media metrics to inform Adweek’s social media strategy
Lead #Adweekchat, a weekly Twitter chat covering the latest in brand marketing, creativity, advertising, tech and TV
Collaborate closely with Adweek’s Story Desk to package and edit stories, optimizing them to reach a larger audience
Occasionally appear on Adweek's podcasts and represent the publication via appearances on other news programs
Plan and occasionally appear in original news videos, whether live or pre-recorded
Help develop new products and initiatives to maintain Adweek's role as an industry leader in innovative journalism
Coordinate with the Branded Content and Marketing teams to share sponsored content and events with our audience
Monitor all public mentions of Adweek and public discussions of the magazines content
Minimum 2 years experience as a social media editor
Proficient in AP style, grammar and Photoshop
Experience writing or editing newsletters is a plus.
